Assam tea has been chosen to be included in to the Barry's Blend because of it's satisfying flavour. Assam is a strong black tea with a rich aroma, and a well-rounded, malty flavour. People will usually add milk and sugar to pure Assam tea to help sweeten it a little, making it easier to drink.

In Ireland people want a strong cup of tea in the morning, or during the day to get them going. This is one of the reasons why Barry's have blended using Assam. It works beautifully with the Kenyan tea to give the renowned Barry's taste.
